XCP Measurement and Calibration
BUSMASTER provides an XCP on CAN window for basic ECU measurement and calibration. The window loads ECU objects from an A2L file, connects one XCP master session to one ECU, reads measurement values, writes supported scalar calibration values with readback verification, and acquires values by Polling or dynamic DAQ.
Open the feature from CAN->XCP Main Window or from the XCP panel on the CAN ribbon. The XCP Main Window is modeless: it can remain open while you use Message Window, Trace, Logging, UDS, and other BUSMASTER functions. Closing or hiding the XCP Main Window does not by itself stop an active measurement; use Stop or the global Stop XCP Measurement command.
A typical session follows this order:
- Configure the BUSMASTER CAN channel and connect the host CAN network.
- Open XCP Settings, select an A2L file and MODULE, and configure the master CTO and slave response/DTO CAN IDs.
- Add readable or writable scalar objects to the workset.
- Click Connect to establish the XCP session.
- Use Read Now, edit a writable Value cell and press Enter, or click Start Acquisition for Polling/DAQ.
- Click Stop Acquisition, then Disconnect, before changing endpoint or A2L settings.
Important: Confirm all CAN IDs, addresses, data types, conversion rules, limits, event channels, and security requirements with the ECU/A2L owner. Writing an incorrect calibration value can change ECU behavior.
