Log, Replay, Import, and Format Conversion
BUSMASTER supports several file formats for viewing, recording, replaying, and converting CAN/CAN FD traffic. Exact support depends on the installed version and selected workflow.
Common Formats
Section titled “Common Formats”- LOG: BUSMASTER text log format, mainly used by older BUSMASTER workflows.
- ASC: text format commonly used by CAN tools. BUSMASTER supports CAN FD and BRS information in ASC workflows where available.
- BBD: BUSMUST binary format used by selected replay and conversion workflows.
- BLF: binary log format used by many CAN tools. BUSMASTER supports BLF import, logging, replay, and conversion in current BUSMUST builds where available.### Message Window Import
Use the Message Window import function, or drag a supported log file into the Message Window where available, to view recorded traffic without connecting to hardware. This is useful when analyzing customer log files.### Logging and Replay
PC-side logging records traffic while BUSMASTER is connected. PC-side replay sends frames from a selected file through the connected device. BUSMUST device-side offline logging and offline replay are configured separately under BUSMUST advanced features and run on supported devices.### Format Conversion
The Format Converter can be used to convert between supported formats such as ASC, LOG, BBD, and BLF. Use conversion when a file must be opened by another analysis tool or when a replay workflow requires a specific format.### Compatibility Advice
If a third-party ASC or BLF file cannot be imported or replayed, check whether it contains CAN FD frames, BRS flags, extended IDs, abnormal DLC values, or tool-specific metadata. Send a small sample file to BUSMUST support if the compatibility problem must be analyzed.
